Nancy Clementine (Everett) Durham

1827-1896

The most deplorable accident in the history of this community occurred here last Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Durham started to preaching, on reaching the house of Wm. Busby, two miles distance, Mr. Durham alighted to get some water. While the bucket was being lowered the mule became frightened at the rattle of the windless and ran into the fence. Mrs. Durham was thrown from the buggy and sustained injuries that resulted in her death three hours afterwards. Mrs. Durham was a devoted member of the Baptist church and her kindly disposition and nobleness of heart made her friends wherever she was known. Weep not, husband and children, at the untimely and awful summons. While you are overwhelmed with grief be consoled by the fact that sweet mother is enjoying that glorious rest that remaineth for the people of God. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord. Yea sayeth the spirit for they rest from their labor and their works so follow them." Exile.
