BOYT/E - BOYET/T/E NEWSLETTER

Volume I, Number 4                                       Oct., Nov., Dec.1985

Published and edited by Wendy L. Elliott, C. G., 4808 E. Garland St., Anaheim, CA 92807

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

One year of publication  of our BOYT/E - BOYET/T/TE  NEWSLETTER  is complete with this  fourth issue.   It  has  been  time consuming, but very rewarding for myself and other "cousins."

Many subscribers  have submitted  articles  and  these are  greatly appreciated; some  have not  yet been printed, but will be in the next Volume.   Only a tiny dent  has been  made in the voluminous amount of materials that I have collected over  the past twenty plus years,  but it's  a start in the right direction.  The more we share, the more  we can  piece  together how  the  various  branches  of  the family  will interconnect.

I will  be  conducting  a  workshop  for the Arkansas  Genealogical Society on October  12,  1985, so  those  of you  who  attend,  please contact me while  we're there.  I'm looking forward to  seeing many of you again.

It's time for subscription renewal, so don't forget! Thanks for all your support in this endeavor.

QUERIES

As many queries as  submitted for the BOYT/E -  BOYET/T/TE  NEWSLETTER will be published until the position is  met  where there are too many for each  issue.  At the  point that too  many are  being  received, a notice  will appear in the NEWSLETTER and further queries will be published under the initial policy of four per subscription per year.

Edward Boyet, Sr. of Wayne county North Carolina

by Richard W. Sassman

2564 Morningside Street, Pasadena CA 91197

The first record of Edward Boyet is in the deed records of Bertie Co. NC. In 1756 he bought 200 acres and sold it for a loss the same year. He moved to Dobbs Co. NC (the section that became part of Wayne in 1779) where he bought a 200 acre tract of land from William Waters sometime after 1762. He paid the poll tax for himself and his sons Etheldred and Edward in Dobbs Co. in 1769 and was taxed for 100 acres of land in Wayne Co. but paid no poll tax in 1786. He is also in the 1790 census for Wayne Co. From the 1769 and 1786 tax lists we can deduce that Edward Boyet was less than 70 years old in 1769 and greater than 70 in 1786 so he was born between 1700 and 1716. He married probably between 1730 and 1740 Abigail  -----------. Nothing is known about her except that she died in or before 1775. Issue:
