Will of John Garris
I John Garris of Northampton Co and state of North Carolina being sick and weak of body but of sound memory and in my perfect sences [sic] and calling to mind such estate or has pleased the almighty to bless me with to dispose of the land in names and forms as follows.
First It is my will and desire that all my last debts and funeral expenses be discharged and paid by my excutors here after names.

Item I: Give and bequesth to my son Henry Garris the land I bought from Samuel Davis and also a peace of land contained in the following boundries beginning at a large pine in the mouth a small dry bottom north the side of the residence to his; the along said path to the line of the land I bought of said Davis to him.

Item II: leave to my loving wife Isabel Garris all the remaining part of my land and plantation whereon I now live during her natural life and give her one pewter dish four plates and one bason and one linen whul and one wooling wheel, one bed and firnature one sorrell horse and sow and piggys and two saddles to her and at her disposal.

Item III: I give to my dau Hannah Garris one third of the priviledges of my dwelling houses and such priveleged of land for garden cotton and potatoes as she may need during her natural life or until marriage. I give her one blue shirt and one bed and firnature and one white sow and pigs.

Item IV: I leave all my stock of cattle to be equally divided between my loving wf Isabel Garris and my children hereafter named Joseph, Lusey, Hannah, George, Crissey, and Nancy to them and their heirs.

Item V: I give and bequesth to my son George Garris the land and plantation I now live after his mother life.

Item VII: I give and bequeath to my dau Seley Gay, 5 shillings to her and her heirs.

Item VIII: I give and bequeath to my dau Patty Davis 5 shillings to her and her heirs.

I hereby void all former wills and appoint this to be my last will and testament and nominate my loving wf isabel Garris and my friend Etherled Martin, Excutrix and Executor to this my will. In witess whereof I have here onto set my hand and affixed my live this the day of February 1, 1800.
