James M. King was born December 19, 1827 in Ohio and died December 20, 1918 in Crawford Co., Prairie twp, Illinois ( Ill. Dept of Health Death Index). He is the son of Adam S. King and Susan Wight King.
He married Janetta McGrew on October 26, 1849 (Crawford Co. Marriages Vol A, p 158). One child was born to them-- Mary E. King in 1852. She died about 1853.
He married Elizabeth Dodd on January 20, 1856 in Crawford Co, Illinois (Crawford Co Marriages Vol B, p63). Elizabeth Dodd was born February 18, 1837 and died on August 14, 1879 (source: family record). Their children are:

Nancy Ellen King -born February 11, 1860 in Palestine, Illinois. She married Samuel Gilbert Cain on January 20, 1860 in Porterville, Illinois.

George King- He married Octavia Inez Keller on May 1, 1892 in Crawford Co, Illinois (Crawford Co. Marriages, Vol 1, page 188).
Obituary of James M. King, Robinson Argus, Dec. 25, 1918--
" Death of an Old Citizen" James M. King or "Uncle Jim" as he was familiarly called, who owned a farm on the east side of the Prairie and spent part of his time there and the rest with his son, George King near Porterville, passed away in Thursday night at the age of 91. He told his son sometime ago that he would die on his birthday. On the evening of his birthday he went to bed as usual but George geeling uneasy called a neighbor in who stayed awhile and seeing that the old gentleman was sleeping as usual went home and next morning he was found dead in bed, so we were informed. He was laid to rest in the Oak Grove cemetery after a short funeral service at the home of his son last Saturday at 10:30am. by the side of his companion who preceeded him in death 20 years.
The 1850 census of Crawford Co, Illinois shows James and Janetta King, both age 22. Living with them is Susan King, James' mother, and her children: John King, age 28; Nancy A., age 20; Aaron, age 17; Oliver, age 15; Alfred, age 13.
The 1860 Crawford Co, Illinois census show James (age 32) and Elizabeth King (age 22) and the following children: Mary, age 8; Margaret, age 4; Susan, age 2. Also in the household was a young man named Hiram Stewart, age 18.
The 1870 Crawford Co, Illinois census shows James M. (age 44) and Elizabeth (age 34) with children: Mary E. age 20; Margaret, age 13; Susan M, age 11; Nancy E. age 9; John G, age 7; Thomas C,. age 3.
The 1880 Crawford Co, Illinois census shows James King (age 52) and Lucy King (age 40) stated as his wife, born Ohio; John King age 16; George King age 13.
