Alexander Queary was born about 1832 in Canada (source: census & obituary) and died January 17, 1894 in Clyde, Cloud County, Kansas. He married Sarah A. Henderson on April 2, 1866 in Lee County, Iowa. She was born about 1850 in Maryland (source:census).
Alexander enlisted in the Infantry at Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa on Aug 13, 1862. He was in Company A, Regiment 19 and was captured at the battle of Stirling Plantation on September 29, 1863, then released and exchanged on July 22, 1864. He spent nearly a year as a prisoner of war at Camp Ford in Tyler, Texas. After leaving the military, he returned to Lee County, Iowa and married Sarah in 1866. Approximately 1875 they moved to Orange Township, Lincoln County, Kansas and by 1880 they had moved to Clyde, Cloud County, Kansas.
Little is known about the family of Sarah. I did find her in the 1860 census of Lee Co, Iowa along with her brother William Henderson. They were living with the family of R.W. & Susan Hutchcraft so presumably their parents had died and perhaps the Hutchcrafts were relatives. In 1900, William had moved to Cloud Co. Kansas also, along with Alexander and Sarah.

Ida B. Queary -- born 1872 in Iowa. She married a ? Shuters and then a second marriage to John A. Gray . The 1910 Cloud Co, Clyde census lists John Gray, age 39, laborer on railroad, born PA; Ida B. Gray, age 38, married twice, born Iowa, father born Canada, mother born Maryland; Carl, age 12; Vera age 7, N?? age 4; Ethel age 2. In 1920 they were in the Marshall Co, Vermillion Twp: John A. Gray, age 49, foreman on railroad; Ida B. Gray, age 46; Vera M, daughter, age 17; Alice L, age 14; Ethel W, age 12; Carl Shuters, son, white, male, age 22, single, born Kansas.
Mary E. Queary -- She was also called Minnie and was born February 18, 1869 and died Feb 13, 1933. She married Edward A. Beamon.

Obituary: Mrs. E.A. Beaman Called By Death, Services Sunday at the Residence Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Beaman, 64 years of age, a resident of Boone county since 1890, passed away at her home west of Lebanon in rural route eleven Thursday night at 7:30 o'clock. She had been ill with diabetes the last seven years and three weeks ago suffered an attack of influenza which developed into pneumonia last Tuesday and resulted in her death. Mrs. Beaman was born in a one-room sod dugout home on a prairie near Keokuck, Iowa, the daughter of Alexander and Sarah E. Quearry. She often recounted interesting tales of her early life on the prairie among the Indians. She was married in Clyde, Kansas, November 7, 1887, to E.A. Beaman who survives. Her husband was merchant patrolman in this city for many years until ill health forced his retirement. The family moved here forty-two years ago. Mrs. Beaman was first of all a kind and loving wife and mother and good neighbor and next among her interests were her flower garden and flock of fine poultry. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Kansas and of the Ruth Rebekah Lodge in this city. Surviving her are the husband, E.A. Beaman; one son, Frank L. Beaman, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Dawson of Ames, Kansas and four grandchildren, Mrs. Marie Behymer, Fay, Pansy and Blanche Beaman. One son, Samuel, and a sister, Miss Emma Quearry, are deceased. Funeral services will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. E.D. Wright officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery. Neighbors and friends are invited to attend the services.

Alex Query Obituary ------- Clyde Republican, Jan 24 1894 Died: Alexander Queary, at his home in Clyde, Jan. 17 1894, aged 62 years. Funeral services was held in the M.E. church on the 18th at 2pm. Rev. Michener preached a very touching and appropriate sermon from Matthew xxiv: 42,43,44. Mr. Queary was born in Canada 1832, but moved to Iowa in 1857. When the war brok out he joined the 19th regt. Iowa Vol. Inft. and gave three years of his life to the defense of his country. After the war, he returned to Iowa and on April 2 1866 he was married to Miss Sarah Henderson and in 1878 he moved his family to the vicinity of Clyde, Kan. where they have since made their home. He leaves a wife and three grown daughters to mourn his loss.
