Weather fine although misty - Capt. Eastham O.C. inspected some of the gun positions in the line. Operation orders No. 31 issued for the relief of No. 2 Section by No. 3 Section. Order No. 31 copy attached. Minor repairs done to emplacements and dug-outs.
2 Weather cold and misty. No. 3 Section relieved No. 2 Section at the following positions:- MIDDLE GUN - DUGOUT GUN - LA PRADE - SPUR GUN. Capt. Eastham, O.C. attended conference with Divisional Staff Officers and Machine Gun Officers at 5th Cdn. M.G. Company's Hdqtrs. Bully Grenay. Lt. Dickie reported back from 1st Army Corps Hdqtrs. 1 O.R. admitted to F.A. 1 O.R. evacuated to C.C.S.
3 Weather cold and misty. No. 2 Section in reserve at Aix-Noulette spent day cleaning guns, spare parts, equipment, ammunition and drying belts. Working parties working on repairing trenches and wiring ARRAS ROAD No. 1 and No. 2 gun positions.
4 Weather fine but rained at night. Thorough inspection of guns, spare parts and ammunition belonging to crews in reserve. Working parties engaged in building alternative amplacement for Arras Road position and minor repairs to trenches. Capt. Eastham O.C. visited various positions in the line.
5 Weather wet. Capt. Eastham O.C. sat at Court of Inquiry which assembled at AIX NOULETTE. Minor repairs to various emplacements and dug-outs. 2 O.R. Ad to F.A. 1 O.R. Evacuated to C.C.S.
6 Weather very dull and cold. Capt. Eastham O.C. visited positions in the line. Lt. Basevi returned from leave. Lt. Hardiman started on leave. 1 O.R. Ad to F.A.
7 Weather dull. Capt. Eastham O.C. sat at Court Martial which assembled at AIX NOULETTE. Operation orders issued for the relief of No. 1 Section by No. 2 Section. Order No 32 Copy attached. Lt. Basevi visited various emplacements with Staff Officers.
8 Weather dull. No. 2 Section relieved No. 1 Section at the following positions NORTH ALLEY - BAJOLLE No. 1 - BAJOLLE No. 2 - HEADQUARTERS. 1 O.R. returned from Hosp.
9 Weather very wet. Capt. Eastham O.C. sat as waiting member at General Field Court Martial held at AIX NOULETTE. Lt. Bain returned from leave.
10 Weather very wet. Nothing to report.
11 Weather dull, rain at evening. Thorough inspection of guns, spare parts & equipment of crews in reserve. 1 O.R. Retd. From F.A. 1 O.R. Reinforcement (Casual)
12 Weather dull. Snow & sleet. Muster parade of all men in reserve.
13 Weather dull and wet - Operation Orders No. 33 issued for the relief of No. 4 Section by No. 1 Section. Order No 33 Copy attached. 1 O.R. sent to Signal Course held at Ragincourt. 1 O.R. Retd. From F.A.
14 Weather dull rain at evening. No. 1 Section relieved No. 4 Section in the following positions ARRAS ROAD Nos. 1 & 2 - RATION Nos. 1 & 2. Capt. Eastham O.C. accompanied by Staff Officers visited some of the positions in the line.
15 Weather dull & misty. Capt. Eastham O.C. sat as member of Field General Court Martial assembled at AIX-NOULETTE. No. 4 Section engaged in cleaning guns, equipment etc.
16 Weather fine. Capt. Eastham O.C. with Lt. Robinson inspected some of the gun positions in the line. 2 O.R. returned from M.G. Course, Camiers. 1 O.R. Ad to F.A.
17 Weather fine but slightly dull. Inspection of guns, equipment, ammunition of crews in reserve.
18 Weather cold and dull. Nothing to report.
19 Weather fine and frosty. Operation orders No. 34 issued for the relief of No. 3 Section by No. 4 Section. Order No 34 Copy attached.
20 Weather fine but very frosty. No. 4 Section relieved No. 3 Section in the following positions - STEP ALLEY - DUG-OUT - LA PRADE - SPUR GUN. No. 3 Section moved into reserve at AIX-NOULETTE.
21 Weather fine, but turned very wet at mid-day. Crews in reserve engaged in cleaning guns, equipment etc. Lt. Douglas proceeded to England on leave. 2 O.R. Ad to F.A.
22 Weather wet. Inspection of crews in reserve, their guns, spare parts etc.
23 Weather wet and very windy. 1 O.R. Discharged from F.A.
24 Weather fine. Capt. Eastham O C with Lt. Robinson visited some of the positions in the line. 1 O.R. Reinforcement : Transferred from 29th Batt.
25 Weather fine. Operation Orders No. 35 issued for the relief of No. 2 Section by No. 3 Section. Order No 35 Copy attached. Lt. Bain proceeded to Camiers to take M.G. Course. 1 O.R. Ad to F.A.
26 Weather fine - No. 2 Section relieved by No. 3 Section in the following positions NORTH ALLEY - BAJOLLE No. 1 - BAJOLLE No. 2 - HEADQUARTERS. Capt. Eastham sat as member at Field General Court Martial held at AIX NOULETTE. 1 O.R. Ad to F.A. 1 O.R. Evacuated to C.C.S.

SUMMARY OF WORK Built alternative emplacements at RATION 1 & 2 (M.31.D.5½-3½) Completed new Position STEEP ALLEY (S.5.D.6-5). Wiring of all gun positions completed.
