Weather fine. Company parade at 8 A.M. Carried on with training afternoon. Section Officers lectured section on Indirect Fire, Belt Filling.
2 Weather fine. Company proceeded to Ranges for Rifle, Revolver and Machine Gun firing practices. Our Brigade orderly No. 71623 Pte. G.H. MOWLL accidentally wounded by bursting bomb. Afternoon, lectures on Indirect Fire, and Crews Belt Filling.
3 Weather fine. No 1, 2, 3 and 4 Sections attached to 27th, 28th, 29th and 31st Battalion respectively on Brigade Manoeuvers. Kit Inspection by Section Officers. Following movement orders issued to O.C. 1, 2, 3 & 4 Sections & 6th 
(1) In accordance with 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade movement order no. 487 the 6th Canadian Machine Gun Company will entrain at 4.33 P.M. tomorrow Sept. 4th 1916 at ST. OMER. 
(2) The company will parade at 9.30 A.M. and march off at 9.40 A.M. via MOULLE v TILQUES St. MARTIN to ST. OMER. 
(3) The 6th Canadian Machine Gun Company Transport will leave at 9.30 A.M. for ST. OMER via BAYENGHAM MOULLE TILQUES and ST. MARTIN, and will pick up 6th Canadian Trench Mortar Battery hand carts in BAYENHAM at 9.40 A.M. 
(4) Hourly halts of ten minutes will be observed on march. Noon halt of one hour for lunch from 12 noon to 1 P.M. when horses will also be fed. 
(5) Advance party consisting of Lt. ROBISON and 5 O.R. will leave at 9 A.M. and will report at 1.33 P.M. to Staff Captain at ST. OMER railway station. 
(6) Section officers will see that all water bottles are filled tonight Sept 3rd The water cart will travel full and be entrained full.
En Route for 
CANDAS
4 Weather fine. In accordance with 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade movement order no. 487, the Company marched independently to ST. OMER via MOULLE, TILQUES, ST. MARTIN leaving billets at 9.40 A.M. arriving in ST. OMER at 1.45 P.M. We entrained for CANDAS at 4.33 P.M. and pulled out at 5 P.M.

5 Weather fine. Disembarked at CANDAS at 4 A.M. and marched independently to billets at LA VICOGNE arriving there at 9.40 A.M.

6 Weather fine. Left billets in LA VICOGNE at 8.19 A.M. and marched with Brigade to new billets at VADENCOURT arriving their at 12.45 P.M.
Brickfields 7 Weather fine. Left billets in VADENCOURT 7.45 A.M. and marched with Brigade to area know as Brickfields outside of Albert arriving at 12.30 P.M.

8 Weather fine. Company parade at 8.15 A.M. Gas helmets and rifles inspected. All new men lectured on Machine Gun Work. Rest of Company Route March.
9 Weather fine. Company parade at 8.15 A.M. Crews spent day cleaning guns and ammunition. Capt. T.A.H. Taylor and Capt. A. Eastham together with a proportion of the other officers visited positions in new area.

10 Weather fine. Company parade at 8.15 A.M. Capt. A. Eastham and Two Bicycles Orderlies proceed ahead to complete arrangements of relief. Skeleton crews of No. 1, 2 and 3 Sections proceeded at 1 P.M. to relieve 1st Canadian Machine Gun Company. Relief completed 11.45 P.M.
11 Weather fine but cloudy. Enemy plane brought down in our lines. Artillery active on both sides.
12 Weather fine. No. 3 Section moved to Chalk Pit near indirect fire positions (x5.C.) Fired Indirect on Enemy Lines during night using 5000 rounds. No. 4 Section skeleton crews relieved No. 1 Section's in Support Lines. No. 1 Section proceeded to Permanent Camp.
13 Weather showery. Artillery on both sides active. Fired indirectly on German Rear Lines 4.500 rounds. Germans retaliated near our position with 15 Whiz Bangs. Remainder of No. 3 & 4 Section cape up the Line in Forenoon. Transport Lines and Permanent Camp heavily shelled with High Explosive between 11 A.M. and noon.
14 Weather fine. Our artillery very active. Aircraft very much in evidence. Remainder of No. 2 Section came up the line in Forenoon. Operation order regarding The Attack received from Brigade at 3.45 P.M. No. 2 Section relieve No. 4 Section in Support Lines. No. 4 Section took up indirect fire positions. No. 1 Section came up the line during the late evening. The following dispositions of the 6th Cdn. Machine Gun Coy. Guns prior to attack by the 2nd Canadian Division on Sep 15th 1916. No. 1 Section in Reserve at dugouts in "Copse Alley". No 2 Section Two guns under Lt. Cumming attached to 28th Battalion, two guns under Lt. Robison attached to 27th Batt. These guns were under instructions from respective Battalion Cammanders (in support). No. 3 and 4 Sections under Lts. Galbraith and Mclelan were attached to 1st Motor Machine Gun Brigade for the purpose of firing a Barrage in rear of Enemy Positions.
15 Weather fine. Attack by 27th & 28th Battalions on German Lines. No 2 Section advanced with attacking Battalions and took up defense positions in Support. No. 2 & 4 Sections conducted indirect fire approximately 45.000 S.A.A. were fired during the course of the attack.
     3.30 P.M. Request from 27th Battalion for two more guns. Two guns of No. 1 Section under Lt. Douglas were dispatched and took up defensive positions with 27th Battalion.
16 Weather fine. No. 1 & 2 Sections relieved by 11 A.M. reporting to Baillif Wood dugouts and No. 1 Section & 2 guns No. 2 Sect. proceeded to Brick Fields at 8 P.M. Two guns No. 2 Section under Lt. Galbraith moved to new Indirect fire positions at R36B (approximately). No. 4 Section standing too.
17 Weather fine. Indirect fire by Lt. Galbraith from new positions. Approximately 10.000 S.A.A. fired. No 2 & 4 Sections relieved. Half of Company under Lt. Basevi marched with Brigade to WALROY leaving Brickfields at 1.30 P.M. arriving in WALROY about 4.30 P.M. Remainder of company were relieved from positions in the line and marched direct to Walroy under Capt. Taylor arriving there at 12.45 A.M. Sep 18th 1916.

18 Weather wet. Company parade at 8.15 A.M. and marched off with Brigade at 8.30 A.M. for VAL-DE-MAISON arriving there at 12.30 P.M.
19 Weather wet. Company parade at 8.15 A.M. and marched off with Brigade at 8.30 A.M. for MORTELETE arriving there at noon.
20 Weather showery. Company paraded 9.15 A.M. Crews spent day cleaning guns and ammunition.
Motelle 21 Weather fine. Company parade at 9.15 A.M. Rifles Revolvers Gas Helmets and Machine Guns inspected. Remainder of day spent filling belts.

22 Weather fine. Company parade at 9.15 A.M. Spent morning preparing for move. Company parade at 1.40 P.M. and marched to BONNEVILLE, where we joined Brigade Headquarters and marched to Val-de-Maison arriving there at 5.15 P.M. 2 O.R. reported for duty.

23 Weather fine. Company parade at 8.15 A.M. and marched off with Brigade at 8.30 A.M. for VADENCOURT arriving there at 12 noon.
Vadencourt 24 Weather fine. Transport and Headquarters details parade at 8.15 A.M. and marched independently to Brickfield area arriving there at 11.30 A.M. Headquarters details parade at 2 P.M. and marched independently to SAUSAGE VALLEY.
Chalk Pit Remainder of company proceeded from VADENCOURT to SAUSAGE VALLEY on Motor Buses arriving at 4.30 A.M. No. 3 Section proceeded to Line to relieve 1st Canadian M.G. Coy. Relieve completed by 10.30 P.M.
25 Weather fine. Received operation order for attack at 12.35 P.M. Sept. 26th 1916. Our deposition was as follows: No. 1 and 2 Sections eight machine guns firing indirect from R.36. No. 3 Section two machine guns approx imately M26-A3-0. Two machine guns approximately M.25.D8.5. Two guns No. 4 Section alloted to each of 28th & 29th Battalions. Two M. Guns No. 3 Section afterwards alloted to 31st Battalion.
26-27 Weather fine. Fighting commenced at 12.35 P.M. and continued throughout day and night, our machine guns firing indirect, put a barrage on R.17.D central - R.18.C central - M.20.A central. Lt. J.M. Cumming wounded (Shellshock)
28 Weather fine but cloudy. Enemy apparently retired for a short distance along intire front and all objectives alloted to 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade reported taken. Small cavalry patrols out in front; warning order independing relief by 4th C.M.G. Coy. received early in afternoon. O.C. 4th C.M.G. Coy. arriving to take over at 7.30 P.M. relief completed by 5.30 A.M. Sections moved to Sausage Valleyas soon as relieved.

29 Weather dull and showery. Company spent day filling belts, cleaning guns & resting. Our artillery very active.
30 Weather fine. Muster Parade All Ranks accounted for. Kit inspection by Section Officers 2 P.M. Sections clean guns and make up deficiencies in spare parts etc.
