Weather fine. No 1, 2, 3 and 4 Sections attached to 27th, 28th, 29th
and 31st Battalion respectively on Brigade Manoeuvers. Kit Inspection by
Section Officers. Following movement orders issued to O.C. 1, 2, 3 &
4 Sections & 6th
(1) In accordance with 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade movement order
no. 487 the 6th Canadian Machine Gun Company will entrain at 4.33 P.M.
tomorrow Sept. 4th 1916 at ST. OMER.
(2) The company will parade at 9.30 A.M. and march off at 9.40 A.M.
via MOULLE v TILQUES St. MARTIN to ST. OMER.
(3) The 6th Canadian Machine Gun Company Transport will leave at 9.30
A.M. for ST. OMER via BAYENGHAM MOULLE TILQUES and ST. MARTIN, and will
pick up 6th Canadian Trench Mortar Battery hand carts in BAYENHAM at 9.40
A.M.
(4) Hourly halts of ten minutes will be observed on march. Noon halt
of one hour for lunch from 12 noon to 1 P.M. when horses will also be fed.
(5) Advance party consisting of Lt. ROBISON and 5 O.R. will leave at
9 A.M. and will report at 1.33 P.M. to Staff Captain at ST. OMER railway
station.
(6) Section officers will see that all water bottles are filled tonight
Sept 3rd The water cart will travel full and be entrained full. |

order no. 487, the Company marched independently to ST. OMER via MOULLE,
TILQUES, ST. MARTIN leaving billets at 9.40 A.M. arriving in ST. OMER at
1.45 P.M. We entrained for CANDAS at 4.33 P.M. and pulled out at 5 P.M. |

German Rear Lines 4.500 rounds. Germans retaliated near our position with
15 Whiz Bangs. Remainder of No. 3 & 4 Section cape up the Line in Forenoon.
Transport Lines and Permanent Camp heavily shelled with High Explosive
between 11 A.M. and noon. |

Weather fine. Our artillery very active. Aircraft very much in evidence.
Remainder of No. 2 Section came up the line in Forenoon. Operation order
regarding The Attack received from Brigade at 3.45 P.M. No. 2 Section relieve
No. 4 Section in Support Lines. No. 4 Section took up indirect fire positions.
No. 1 Section came up the line during the late evening. The following dispositions
of the 6th Cdn. Machine Gun Coy. Guns prior to attack by the 2nd Canadian
Division on Sep 15th 1916. No. 1 Section in Reserve at dugouts in "Copse
Alley". No 2 Section Two guns under Lt. Cumming attached to 28th Battalion,
two guns under Lt. Robison attached to 27th Batt. These guns were under
instructions from respective Battalion Cammanders (in support). No. 3 and
4 Sections under Lts. Galbraith and Mclelan were attached to 1st Motor
Machine Gun Brigade for the purpose of firing a Barrage in rear of Enemy
Positions. |

No 2 Section advanced with attacking Battalions and took up defense positions
in Support. No. 2 & 4 Sections conducted indirect fire approximately
45.000 S.A.A. were fired during the course of the attack. |

Request from 27th Battalion for two more guns. Two guns of No. 1 Section
under Lt. Douglas were dispatched and took up defensive positions with
27th Battalion. |

to Baillif Wood dugouts and No. 1 Section & 2 guns No. 2 Sect. proceeded
to Brick Fields at 8 P.M. Two guns No. 2 Section under Lt. Galbraith moved
to new Indirect fire positions at R36B (approximately). No. 4 Section standing
too. |

10.000 S.A.A. fired. No 2 & 4 Sections relieved. Half of Company under
Lt. Basevi marched with Brigade to WALROY leaving Brickfields at 1.30 P.M.
arriving in WALROY about 4.30 P.M. Remainder of company were relieved from
positions in the line and marched direct to Walroy under Capt. Taylor arriving
there at 12.45 A.M. Sep 18th 1916. |

alloted to each of 28th & 29th Battalions. Two M. Guns No. 3 Section

day and night, our machine guns firing indirect, put a barrage on R.17.D

along intire front and all objectives alloted to 6th Canadian Infantry
Brigade reported taken. Small cavalry patrols out in front; warning order

4th C.M.G. Coy. arriving to take over at 7.30 P.M. relief completed by
5.30 A.M. Sections moved to Sausage Valleyas soon as relieved. |
