No 42) the company commenced its move to the line. Headquarters and
No. 1 Section with the necessary transport were attached to the 31st Bn.
and moved from Burbure to Houdain via MARLES-LES-MINES and PLACE A BRUAY.
Section paraded 8.20 a.m. and moved off at 8.30 a.m. meeting 31st Bn guides
at 8.50 a.m. and arriving HOUDAIN at 2.15 p.m. No. 2 Section with necessary
transport was attached to 27th Bn. and marched to MAISNIL-LES-RUITZ. Section
paraded at 8.20 a.m. and moved off at 8.30 a.m. meeting the 27th Bn at
9.05 a.m. and arriving MAISNIL-LES-RUITZ at 2.45 p.m. Nos 3 and 4 Sections
remained in Rest Billets at BURBURE. |

Weather fine and cold. No 1 Section with Company Headquarters and necessary
transport attached to the 31st Bn marched from HOUDAIN to the TRANSPORT
LINES ECOIVRES via RANCHICOURT, REBREUVE, GAUCHIN-LEGAL, ESTREE-CAUCHY,
LES 4 VENTS and CAMBLAIN L'ABBE. Sections paraded at 8.20 a.m. and joined
31st Bn at 8.40 a.m. arriving at ECOIVRES at 1.45 p.m. No 2 Section with
necessary transport from MAISNIL-LES-RUITZ to ESTREE-CAUCHY via REBREUVE
and GAUCHIN-LEGAL. Section paraded at 8.55 a.m. and joined 27th Bn at 9.05
a.m. arriving ESTREE-CAUCHY at 12.35 p.m. No's 3 and 4 Sections remained
in rest billets at BURBURE. Lieut. STONEHEWER proceeded on Map-Reading
Course to PERNES. |

Weather cold and dull. No 1 Section relieved a section of the 8th Canadian
Machine Gun Company in the line in the following positions LOUNGE (A22
a 10.20), HIPPODROME (A21 b 45.30), LABYRINTH REDOUBT (A21 b 32.70) and
SPOONER (A15 d 93.35). Section left Transport lines at 9.00 a.m. and proceeded
via MAROEUIL and ANZIN ST. AUBIN to positions. Guides met Section at. Relief
was completed at 1.30 p.m.
No 2 Section relieved a section of the 8th Canadian Machine Gun Company
in support in the following positions SAUSAGE REDOUBT (A21 c 30.30) and
COMPANY HEADQUARTERS (A21 d 60.95). Section left ESTREE-CAUCHY at 6 a.m.
and proceeded via ECOIVRES, MAROEUIL and ANZIN ST. AUBIN. Section was met
by guide at ANZIN ST. AUBIN CHURCH at 11 a.m. Relief was complete at 1.20
p.m.
No 3 Section, accompanied by necessary transport left REST BILLETS
BURBURE attached to 28th Bn. marched to HOUDAIN via MARLES-LES- MINES and
BRUAY leaving BURBURE 9.30 a.m. arriving HOUDAIN at 2.45 p.m.
No 4 Section with necessary transport attached to 29th Bn proceeded
to MAISNIL-LES-RUITZ via MARLES-LES-MINES and BRUAY leaving BURBURE 9.05
a.m. and arriving MAISNIL-LES-RUITZ at 2.50 p.m. |

positions in line and support. No 3 Section attached to 28th Bn moved from
HOUDAIN to transport lines ECOIVRES via RANCHICOURT, REBREUVE, GAUCHIN-LEGAL,
ESTREE-GAUCHY and CAMBLAIN L'ABBE leaving HOUDAIN 8.40 a.m. and arriving
at ECOIVRES 2.00 p.m.
No 4 Section attached to 29th Bn moved from MAISNIL-LES-RUITZ to transport
lines ECOIVRES via REBREUVE, GAUCHIN-LEGAL, ESTREE- GAUCHY and CAMBLAIN
L'ABBE leaving MAISNIL-LES-RUITZ 9.20 a.m. and arriving transport lines
at 3.00 p.m. |

Weather fine turning dull and milder towards night with showers of
rain. Nos 3 and 4 Sections carrying on with drill as follows. Mechanism.
Immediate Action. Gas Helmet Drill. The O.C. inspected gun positions in
line and support. |

places. No 3 Section relieved No 2 Section in support positions. After

in the line in the following positions. LOUNGE (A22 a 10.20), HIPPODROME

Weather dull but clearing. Conference of C.O's at Brigade Headquarters
was attended by O.C. and 2nd in Command. No 3 Section fired 4000 rounds
on dumps and railway at A17{a 2½.6½ ; a 3.5 ; a 5½.3½}
and at A18 a 1.6. Sections at rest and transport details engaged in preparations
for move to new billets. |

Weather fine turning dull and misty. Sections at rest and transport
details moved to BOIS DES ALLEUX. Guns on anti-aircraft duty fired 750
rounds at low flying German plane, evidently doing some damage as plane
turned back. Guns were located at SAUSAGE REDOUBT A21 c 30.30. 6000 rounds
were fired at dumps roads railways and trenches located at A17 a 2.6½,
A17 a 3.5, A17 a 5½.3½, A18 a 1.6, A18 a 1½.9, A23
a 5½. 9½. |

Weather fine turning dull towards night. Guns on air-craft duty fired
750 rounds on German planes at 7.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. turning one plane back
at 7.30 a.m. 6000 rounds were fired between 6 p.m. and midnight on targets
located at A17 a 2.6½, A17 a 3.5, A17 a 5½.3½, A18
a 1.6, A18 a 1½.9, A23 a 5½. 9½. An anti-aircraft
gun position was built at SAUSAGE REDOUBT 150 sandbags of earth being used. |
