No 60] After relief Company moved forward in support of 31st and 27th
Bns with 8 guns. Barrage guns, 8 in number, moved into selected positions
and commenced to build emplacements. |

Weather fine. Company at work on positions. Major Eastham proceeded
to the transport lines sick and Lieut Robison. Mobile guns holding line
positions and crews of barrage guns digging pits and bringing up ammunition. |

Weather fine. Company took part in attack as follows. 2 Mobile guns
under Lt. Dickie moved forward with the 27th Bn. 2 guns under Lt Waddington
moved forward with the 31st Bn. 4 Guns under Lts Carter and Wallbridge
were in Reserve at Vancouver Road T28. 8 Barrage guns under Lts Hardiman
and Williams kept up indirect fire in accordance with Corps Scheme. Lts
Carter and Wallbridge took up two fresh gun crews owing to Casualties and
damages and rearranged section. Lt Carter did exceptionally fine work.
Sgt A. Surtees was killed. |

7th orders for relief received and during night 7/8th the 4 mobile guns

No 61] The Barrage guns withdrew with Batt. at dusk to the Farbus-Vimy
Rwy Embankment. |

Weather fine. On completion of relief the Mobile guns moved to dugouts
in the support area. [O.O. No 62]
Immediately on arrival orders were received to "Stand Too". Sections were
at once rearranged and reinforced and at 2 p.m. moved back into the line
taking up a position 300 yards in front of the Farbus-Vimy Rwy Embankment.
These guns were under command of Lts. Tucker and Downing. The Barrage guns
moved into position in SASKATCHEWAN ROAD T29a. All guns passed under command
G.O.C. 4th Cdn Inf Bde. During the night 7/8th the transport under A/Cpl
Morrison did exceptionally good work in bringing up ammunition and rations
under very heavy shell-fire both high-explosive and gas shells. 5 men became
casualties from gas and all the party were suffering more or less from
the effects of gas but succeeded in getting in the full supply of S.A.A.
rations and water. |

guns under Lts Tucker and Downing were relieved by 8 guns 5th Cdn M G Coy.
Relief complete at 1 a.m. (11th). Lts R.H. Locke and T.A. Potts wounded. |

Weather fine. On completion of relief Company moved into Rest Area
near Aux Rietz. Company went into action 230 strong all ranks and had 30
casualties all ranks. Muster parade held. All ranks present and accounted
for. Company was also bathed and paid. |

Weather fine. Company was paraded to Gas School to have Box Respirators
inspected and changed. No. 4 Section furnished 2 guns for anti-aircraft
guard at Aux Rietz Corner. Sections rearranged and stores inspected. VICKERS
MK I Barrels and Muzzle Cups exchanged for MK II. |

Weather fine and hot with showers towards evening. Company preparing
for the line. In evening company relieved 5th Cdn M.G. Coy as follows.
No. 1 Section relieved a section 5th Cdn M G Coy in Main Resistance line,
No. 2 Section relieved a section 5th Cdn M G Coy in observation line, Nos.
3 & 4 Sections relieved sections in Support Area NEUVILLE ST VAAST.

Weather fine. The Company moved to GOUY SERVINS via VILLERS AU BOIS.
[O.O. No 67] Company accompanied by
the transport paraded at 10.35 a.m. marched off at 11 a.m. and reached
GOUY SERVINS at 2.15 p.m. Company immediately proceeded to billets. Remainder
of day spent at rest. |
