In the name of the blessed Trinity Amen : I John Benfield
of Lullington in the county of Derby husbandman being of perfect memory
doe make this my last will and testament : ___ I comit my soule into the
hands of God that gave it, and my body to the earth in hope of a glorious
resurrection : ___ for my temporall estate, I give & bequeath unto
my sonne Thomas Benfeild the summe of twenty pounds of Lawfull money of
England to be paid him after this manner (ie) five pounds after one year
& a day after my death, & soe every yeare for three years followinge
at end of every yeare the like summe of five pounds respectively, untill
the said summe of twenty pounds is fully paid. Then I give unto my wife
Mary Benfeild the summe of five pounds and the bed in the parlor with all
things thereunder Belonging… with two pairs of sheets if she shall hereafter
marry. But if she continues in the estate of widowhood my will is that
she shall ___ & benefit of ___ Joynt executor with my sonne William
Benfeild. And accordingly I make my sonne William & my wife Joynt executors
of this my last will & testament, payinge all my debts, Legacies, &
funorall charges : Revoakinge and disawillinge all wills by me formerly
made, in witness hereof I have this second day of march in the third yeare
of the Reign of our soveraign Lady Anne, by the Grace of God Queen of England
Scotland France & Ireland &c. And in the year of our Lord 1704
set my hand and seale.
