This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Nadin of Woodville
in the county of Derby Earthenware Manufacturer I appoint my son-in-law
William Thomas Harvey and my friend Tom Parker of Woodville hereinafter
called my trustees to be the Executors and Trustees of this my will I give
the legacy or sum of one hundred pounds to my wife Mary Nadin to be paid
to her within one calendar month after my decease and give and bequeath
all my household furniture and effects plate linen china glass books pictures
prints wines liquors and consumable [.] which shall be in and about my
dwellinghouse at my decease excepting monies and securities for money unto
my said wife absolutely I devise that my messuage on tenament known as
the Laurels and the gardens and appurtenances thereto belonging situate
at Woodville aforesaid and now in my own occupation unto my said wife for
her life without impeachment [?] of waste and from and after her decease
I direct that the said messuage and premises shall fall into and form part
of my residuary estate and be subject to the trusts hereinafter declared
of and concerning the same
I give to my stepdaughters Sarah Ann Parker [nee Adcock] and Bertha
Emma Elizabeth Elliott [nee Adcock] the legacy or sum of fifty pounds each.
I give all my real and personal estate not hereinbefore disposed of unto
my trustees upon trust that they shall sell each in and convert into money
the same or such part thereof and all my ready money pay my just debts
funeral and testementary expenses and the legacies hereinbefore and hereinafter
bequeathed and shall invest hereinafter called "the residual trust funds"
Interest out of the income thereof to pay to my said wife during her
life the clear sum of two pounds per week to be payable on Saturday and
also out of such income to appropriate and set apart the clear sum of fifty
pounds per year and to accumulate the yearly income appropriated and set
apart by investing the same and the resulting income [?] until the said
yearly sums and the resulting income thereof shall amount in the aggregate
to the sum of five hundred pounds whereupon the appropriation and setting
apart .[?] shall cease and to stand possessed of the said five hundred
ponds and the investment thereof upon the trust hereinafter declared concerning
the same and as to the residue of the income of the residuary trust
funds to pay the same until the decease of my said wife on the ceasing
of the said appropriation (whichever shall last happen) unto my daughters
Emily Mary Harvey and Bertha Amy Nadin in equal share I declare either
daughter die before the decease of my wife without leaving a child/children
who being a son or sons inherit at 21 years or a girl on marrying
- grandchildren inherit dead daughter's share, etc
I direct that £500 shall be held by my trustees for my granddaughter
Effie Mary Goodwin at 21yrs.
Provisions to pay the above sums should the residuary not produce
the interest expected. [These provisions take up a page and a half]
To my trustees the sum of £25 each for the trouble in carrying
out
