Information from Jeff at VMCC on motorbike in picture 27.8.09:

"The bike was registered with Coventry Borough Council which used the RW letters from May 1924 to December 1926. No interim details exist but from 1927 to 1929 registrations numbered about 1000 per 3 months in Coventry. On this basis I calculate the bike to be a 1925 model, possibly purchased in late 1924.

The bike is a Coventry Eagle, a 350cc side valve with a JAP engine I think. There is a dearth of information on specific 1925 models but the (briefly used) Druid forks define the year.

I have checked the VMCC Register to see if any of our members own the bike but without success which is not surprising. Most machines ended up one way or the other as scrap which is why survivors are now so valuable.".

Information from Stafford Record Office 9th April 2010

Dear Mr. Briggs,

Thank you for your email enquiry.

I have made a search in the records of the above hospital held here and I was able to find some information regarding your grandfather’s stay in the hospital. The case notes for each individual were always brought together on the latest admission to the hospital so Mr. Brigg’s case notes will have been held among the records relating to his admission to the hospital in 1952. Unfortunately, as all the hospital’s case notes after 1950 were destroyed, there are no surviving case notes for Mr. Briggs.
