The Sandeman Family in India

Having recently found some snippets of information which suggest a branch of the Sandeman family was transplanted to India, I have decided to devote a page specifically for information on members of the extended Sandeman family who emigrated to or were born in India, or descend from such individuals.

I will quickly list my surname interests in India, which focus around Maj.Gen. Robert Turnbull Sandeman & descendants. Please note I am unsure of how many of these lines lived or remained in India. However, I think there is a strong possibility that a number of members of the extended Sandeman family lived & raised families in colonial India, given the proportionately high number of military and Indian civil service titles.

* Name: Sir Robert Groves Sandeman K.C.S.I., b.1835; d.1892. m1.Catherine Grace Allen, b.1842, d.1868, m2.Helen Catherine Gainsford.

Details: He was an "Indian Mutiny Medal Recipient 1857-1859", and is listed as "Rank- Lieutenant, Name-Sandeman, Robert Groves, Regiment-2nd Bengal European Fusiliers, Remarks-From 33rd N.I."
