Nathaniel Briscoe d. in 1683 in Milford - probably married by 1646 to Mehitable
"Lambert states that Nathaniel came to Milford from Wethersfield, Conn., but
whether or not he was connected with the Nathaniel Briscoe of Watertown, Mass.
is not known. His name appears in the list of "free planters' in Milford
on November 20, 1639. He was granted home lot #62 on the west side of the
River, 3 acres in size. This was not directly on the river but was in the
second line of lots back beside a creek or brook on Spring St., cor. Hill.
Nathaniel was admitted to First Church in Milford April 20, 1644. His son
Nathaniel (who may have been his eldest child) was bapt. there in 1646/7 and two
others were bapt. there in 1649 and 1651 respectively. Savage points out
that he was not there for the division of land in 1677 and says that he was
possibly dead, but town records say a Nathaniel Briscoe died there in 1683 and
his son Nathaniel did not die until 1691." Known children are Nathaniel
bapt. 1646/7, James bapt. 1649 and John bapt. 1651.
