When Peter Brokaw's son, Isaac Brokaw, married Polly Brewer on Dec 25, 1810 the bondsmand was John W. Verbryck and the witnesses David B. Comingore and John Verbryck. Bernardus Verbryck (who I think was a brother-in-law) was deceased by this time, but Bernardus Verbryck's brother, John Verbryck, was still alive.  The John W. Verbryck is probably the son of William Verbryck.  This John Verbryck was named as a nephew in the will of John Verbryck.

"Peter Brokaw, born in New Jersey, was bp. in the church at Six Mile Run and was raised in New Jersey. He and Rebecca Huff were married in Somerset County, by mar. Bond, dated Dec. 12, 1784, and name of her brother Peter Huff was on the bond. (N.J. Mar. Bonds. BK B p 193) They lived in Somerset Co., and then went to Pennsylvania, prior to 1793. Rebecca probably died there. No rec. of where she died and no rec. as to where Peter married Phebe: maiden name not known. Peter and family went to Mercer County., KY before 1810, and were listed in 1810 and 1820 census records, at Harrodsburg.
His son Isaac married there, Dec. 24, 1810, to Polly Brewer. Rebecca mar. March 19, 1814, to Isaac Covert and Barsheba to "Asher Labertom, Dec 30, 1819, as shown by the following. In Will BK 8, p 251, of Mercer Co., Ky gives the -allotment of dower to Phebe "Brokaw, widow of Peter Brocaw, on June 6, 1825. An inventory was taken. In this allotment of dower, by order of the Court,"Phebe Brocaw, relict of Peter Brocaw, deceased," was allowed her dower in her husband's lands. Gives full description of these lands and the boundries, which contained 50 acres of the "Mansion House." as being an equal 1/3rd. part in value of a tract of land of 166 3/4 acres of which, "Peter Brocaw seized and possed lying on the Salt River in Mercer co., Ky." This was recorded at the Sept. Court, 1825. comissioners were J. P. Mitchell, James C. Westerfield and Archy Adams.
In Will BK 9 p 238, -1829, a division of lands to the heirs of Peter "Bercaw", deceased, in compliance with a Court Order. commissioners were Chas. W. Allis, Jackson Mann and Archibald Adams, who met on the land of the late Peter Brokaw, Aug. 6, 1829, to allot divisions of this land to Peter's heirs. It consisted of 116-3/4 acres, which they divided into four equal parts of 28 1/8 acres each of land (excluding the part consisting of water.) Record gave full description and boundries of each lot, - too long to include here. Lot A, fell to Rebecca Covert; Lot B. to Abram Brokaw; Lot C, to Isaac Brokaw and Lot D, to Barsheba Laberton. This was recorded at the Sept. court of 1829. Again, in Will Bk. 13, p. 129, 1849, the Dower Lands, and division of land to heirs of Peter "Bercaw." In this instrument commissioners were appointed to divide the Dower Land of Phebe Blackford, late Phebe Brokaw, deceased, widow of Peter Brocaw, deceased. (She was married, by mar. bond, dated Dec. 19, 1832, to Benjamin Blackford, in Harrodsburg, Ky. E. F.)
The commisioners met March 30, 1849, and surveyed the entire Dower Tract, and found to be 50 acres, and they also allotted, Lot, No. 1, of 13 acres, to the heirs of Isaac Covert, their mother being a daughter of the deceased Peter Brocaw: Lot. 2. of 13 acrs, to the heirs pf Isaac Brokaw, son of deceased Peter Brokaw; Lot 3, of 13 acres to Abram Brokaw, son and Lot 4, of 13 acres, to Peter Laberton, son of Barshebe Laberton, who was a daughter of Peter Brocaw, deceased. Commissioners were James C. Westerfield, Archibald D. Adams and Peter Vanervier. Each Lot was fully described. Also a settlement of estate of Peter Brokaw, 1827, which I did not get. In description of Dower Land, of Peter to his widow, Phebe, a white oak on the corner to Cornelius Covert, on the edge of Harrodsburg, was the starting point for the boundry of this land.
In the "History of the Low Dutch Colony of Conowago.", by Rev. Dr. Demerest, 1885, a list of settlers, contained among otheres, were the names of those who went to Kentucky, as Brokaw; Brewer; Cozine: Covert: Hoff, and Van Arsdale. Rev. Cornelius Cosine became the pastor of the Conowago Chruch, in the fall of 1772. His wife was Maria Brewer, daughter of one of the colonists. He died 1788, after his decease Maria mar. David s. Demarest of Hackensack, N.J. Rev Demarest was a later Minister of the Pres. church at Gettysburg. He says that hardly more than a generation had passed when most of the settlers, who had come to the Conowago, had left for other parts, some to Kentucky, some to Ohio and beyond, and some Northward to New York. The first to go were, in 1781, to Kentucky, at White Oak' Spring Station on the Kentucky River above Boonesborough (this is now Harrodsburg.). "On the marriage bond of Phebe Brokaw and Benjamin Blackford, Josiah Wison was fellowbondman (Mars. Recs. Mar. BK 1, Mercer Co. Rec.s Will, etc. received direct from Court House at Harrodsburg, Ky., by me. E. F.) also (NYG&B Rec. v. 86, p. 163)
