A will abstract appears in "Middlesex County, Va. Wills and
Inventories, 1673 - 1812" by William L. Hopkins: P. 42:
"Maurice Cock... 15 May 1696 / 3 Jan 1697... Three nephews viz John Jones, Rice
Jones, and Nicholas Jones, the sons of Rice Jones, Jr. Nephew John Smyth.
Nephews Maurice Smith and Samuel Smith land in Essex Co. Rice Curtis, the son of
Giles Curtis, land in Essex Co. adjoining the land of his father, Giles Curtis.
The orphans of Rice Jones viz John Jones, Rice Jones and Nicholas Jones and
children Ralph, Mary, Elizabeth and Judith. Son Armistead Churchill to be
committed to the guardianship of my brother, Capt. Henry Armistead. My kinsman,
Maj. Nathaniel Burwell and Mr. Bartholomew Yates. Exors: Mann Page, Maj.
Nathaniel Burwell, Mr. John Grymes and Mr. Bartholomew Yates.
Overseers: Maj. John Holloway, John Clayton, Esq., Mr. Christopher Robinson and
