Nicholas Coddington was baptized in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England on 22 Aug
1633. (1) When he was about fourteen, the family moved to Homepatrick,
Dublin, Ireland. His father was involved in a chancery court case there on
27 Oct 1647. (2) Nicholas Coddington married Ellin Aston at Saint Michan,
Dublin, Ireland on 30 Dec 1655. (3)
Nicholas was involved in several chancery court cases. The first one was
on 11 May 1658 when there was suit against "Joseph Fish, Nicholas Coddington and
John Coddington," among others. Joseph Fish was married to his sister,
Bridget Coddington and John Coddington was his younger brother. He was
referred to as Nicholas Coddington, Esquire in a case on 7 May 1669 and his
brother John Coddington was also in a later case dated 10 Feb 1679. (4)
Ellin, the wife of Nicholas Coddington probably died around 1660 as Nicholas
married Anne Dixie about that time. We know this because on the 23rd of
Jan 1672 Nicholas Coddington was named as the administrator of the estate of
Woolstane Dixie. (5) He and his wife Elizabeth had a daughter named Anne who was
born on 1 Aug 1638 in England and the first two children of Nicholas Coddington
were named Elizabeth and Dixie Coddington. (6)
Nicholas Coddington wrote his will on 6 Jul 1685 naming his wife, Anne, son
Henry, Jane Elizabeth wife of William Hancock, brother John, eldest son Dixie
Coddington, sister Fish and her son Benjamin, sisters Mary Tullis and Hanah
Waller. The will was probated 18 Jul 1685. (7)
