The death certificate for her son, Simeon B. Spillman, lists his mother's name and state of birth as Sarah Deering, KY.  The obituary of her son in Johnson Co., IN states that he was born in Georgetown, Scott Co., IN (Oct 4, 1824) and came to Johnson Co., IN when he was 14.  It is most likely that the Simeon B. Deering living Georgetown in 1824 was the father of Sarah Deering since he is the only Deering living in Georgetown and he has the name of her oldest child.

The marriage records for the county were burned so there is no record of their marriage.  However a Sally Spilman was suing William Spilman in 1832 over guardianship of their children.  See record on page for her husband.  Her husband was declared a pauper in 1831.  She brought him into court in 1832 wanting him to be declared not the guardian of her children.  The case was dismissed in Jan 1833. Sarah gave birth to her third child six months later in June 1833.

On Feb 3, 1838 a Sally Spilman married Jilsen N Triplet Jr (Gilson M Trussell - the transcription appears to have been wrong) in Scott Co., KY. In 1836 in Scott Co., KY there is a Jilsen Trussell paying taxes. One white male and one horse. Value 2 $70. He is also on the tax records for 1838 and 1839 but then disappears.

In 1840 Gilson M Trussell is living in Perry, Marion Co., IN with several children but no female old enough to be his wife.  Three of the children could be Simeon, Martha and Robert.

In the 1860 census for Clay Co., MO there is a Robert H. Spillman living in the household with Primrose Yarbrough and William Trussell age 20 born in KY. (possibly a son from the marriage to Gilson Trussell) There is also a Sarah Yarbrough, aged 55, who could be this Sarah Deering now married to Primrose or Pennrose Yarbrough. The next listing is for D. E. Yarbrough who was married to Martha A. Spillman.  This Robert H. Spillman was born in Georgetown according to his death certificate and since there is only one Spillman family in Georgetown at that time it is reasonable to assume he is a child of Sarah Deering and William Spillman.  Martha A. Spillman possibly is a daughter.  One of Martha's children, William Pennrose Yarbrough, died October 20, 1912 in Daviess Co., MO.  His death certificate lists his parents as David E. Yarbraugh and Martha A Spillman

It is also interesting to note that her son Simeon named many of his children after family members.
