Hester Floyd was born about 1671 since in 1687 Hester/Ester was under the age of 16 and unmarried when she inherited a feather bed from her father's estate. (1) She must have married Edmund Bibbe shortly after her father's death, possibly about 1688 in Northampton, VA. She had five children with him that were named in his will written six years later on 23 Mar 1694.(2)  She seems to have had an additional son after his will was written.  Then Edmund Bibbe died in 1696 in Northampton, VA when her children were quite young.  She remarried to Thomas Leonard in Virginia  sometime before 28 July 1698 when she was listed as wife of Thomas Leonard when they were settling the estate of Edumund Bibbe. (3)   Her daughter Sarah was probably born about 1699/1700.

Then six years later in 1704 Thomas Leonard died. The estate was settled in Northampton VA with her son John Bibbe administrator. (4) On 28 Mar 1704 Hester, widow of Thomas, bought 60 acres of land in Shrewsbury next to that of her deceased husband's land. (5)  Thomas had acquired his land in Shrewsbury by patent on Oct 4, 1695. (6)  The original survey had been for 80 acres in Right of his father.  There were three tracts bordering the land of his father and his brother Henry with mention of his brother Nathaniel.  Warrant Date: 10 Jul 1685  The total acreage was 202 acres. (7)

Hester had died by April 6, 1719 when her son, John Bibbe, was selling land that had befallen him from the death of his mother. (5)  Her daughter, Sarah Leonard, would have been about 19.  Sarah Leonard married John White sometime before May 8, 1722 when John White and his wife Sarah were selling the 202 acres that had belonged to Sarah's father for £500  to John Throckmorton and Samuel Dennis Jr. (8)  John and Sarah were named as of "late of Wentipenk Neck in Shrewsbury."  John and Sarah must have disputed the sale of the extra 60 acres made by John Bibbe in 1719.  However, they gave  quit claim of that 60 acres in 1722 the day after they sold the 202 acres to John Throckmorton and Samuel Dennis.
