"Nathaniel Hall received the commission of lieutenant from the king when he was
only 18 years of age; he afterwards became captain, and spent his life in
military affairs; he was in the French war at Quebec, and had command of Fort
Groton, now New Lebanon, CT and was on half pay when the Revolutionary war broke
out."
