Sons Thomas and George Harland were both listed as of Donnaghlong in the Lurgan Monthly Meetings in Ireland and they each witnessed the wedding of the other.  Thomas remained in Ireland and there are records there indicating his father was named James. The birth record for George Harland indicates his father was named James. (1) George and Michael Harland emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1687.  George Harland in his will of 1714 named his brother Michael Harland, Trustee. So, Thomas, George and Michael Harland are definitely sons of James Harland. (2)

It is believed that "Donnaghlong" is the civil parish of Donaghcloney and that the three brothers "leased land from William Waring in his newly acquired holding at Waringstown in the civil parish of Donaghcloney.

Old records confirm that Thomas Harland lived, at this time, in this parish, and from the evidence above it appears almost certain to be in the townland of Corcreeny."  - "Peter Harland's leasehold was in the townland of Ballyblagh, so the homes would have been less than two miles apart." (3)

Other people named Harland show up in the Lurgan Meetings.  A John Harland was there as early as 1671.  George Harland was there by 1676.  Peter and Thomas appear in 1678.  Michael Harland does not seem to be in the records. Elinor and Margaret Harland who each married in 1684 could be daughters of Peter Harland.  He also seems to have had a son named Peter, as a Peter Harland is a witness to a marriage after the 1691 record of the death of Peter Harland. (4)  Isabell and Bridgett Harland could be sisters of the three brothers. Or, since Bridgett is listed right under the name of Thomas Harland in the marriage record for George Harland in 1678. could she be an earlier wife who died before Thomas married in 1680?  The Harland Diaspora (3) reports that a Thomas Harland was buried near Lurgan in 1683 and his wife died in March 1690. Was he a son of either the John or Peter Harland?
