There has been much speculation as to the parentage of Robert Harris. One report says he was the first child of Thomas Harris and Adria Osborne who died shortly after he was born. His father remarried and Robert supposedly did not get along with his step-mother. He ran away from home. Was disinherited. Made his own way in the world. But he ended up marrying into a prestigious family. The widow Rice was born Mary Claiborn and her ancestry goes back 20 generations to King Malcolm of Scotland and Rollo, The Norseman, who established the Duchy of Normandy in 886. The ancestry of Robert Harris remains unclear.
