Johann Michael Helfer was born 28 Feb 1770 and baptized 4 Mar 1770 in Vorderweidenthal.  (1) He was the 6th son of Christoffel and Anna Maria Helfer. His father died in 1794 when he was 24 years old. Michael Helfer married Anna Maria Muller 12 years later on 30 Dec 1806.  She was a widow when she married Michael Helfer and she died just three years later on 8 Jan 1809. (2)  Four months later Michael Helfer married Christina Katharina Groninger on 8 May 1809. (2) He was 36 years old and she was 23 years old.  They had four children in Vorderweidenthal and then he died at the age of 59 when the youngest son was only 8 years old.  Michael had been sick for 4 days and died on 29 Dec 1829. (3)  He had been a farmer living in Vorderweidenthal.  His estate was finally distributed in 1837. (4) From the settlement of his estate we learn that the couple had owned a "residential building" with stalls and other belongings in Vorderweidenthal on the church alley next to the church. (see photo above) Michael had also owned 37 acres of farmland  plus another 67 acres of farmland which he had brought into the marriage.

Johann Michael Helfer, son of Christopher Helfer and Anna Maria Mueller, was born 28 Feb. 1770 and baptized 4 Mar. 1770 (the Sunday following). The sponsors: Wendel Becker a Zimmermeister of Vorderweidenthal Ludwig Schutz a Schmidmeister

Michael Helfer, husband of Christina Groininger of Vorderweidenthal. Died 28 December 1829 about 4 o'clock in the morning. He was sick about 4 days. He was 61 years of age and was buried on 30 December 1829.

The 16th of April, 1837

Tuesday, the 2nd of May 1837, Midday at noon, at Vorderweidenthal in the bar of Valentin Puster, will appear before the Royal District Attorney to Landau at two through the decreed judgments of February 28 and April 5, 1837, by the undersigned (chien committirten) from Annweiler where he lives, Royal Bavarian Notary Public, Wilhelm Koster.

1. Christine Gröninger, widow of the husbandman Michael Helfer who lived in Vorderweidenthal - She on account of her own name in the community property and also in her function as mother and natural guardian of her minors with her deceased husband, and her natural son Heinrich Helfer, these are the actors in the drama.

2. Heinrich Muller, in his function as secondary guardian of the named pupils.

3. Elizabeth Helfer, wife of Karl Veiock, and because of the latter, her community property.

4. Margaretha Helfer

5. Barbara Helfer, all the people commanded to appear in court are adult farm people who live in Vorderweidenthal.  The last two and the Veiock wife, children of the departed Michael Helfer and his wife.

Records of the real estate in the protected forests situated in Vorderweidenthal, based on the order of the undersigned notary public, on April 13 of the current year, independent expert reports, to comply with on account of the auction.

A. Real estate, which is held in community property between the departed Michael Helfer and his wife, Christine Gröninger, as follows:

1. One in Vorderweidenthal on the church alley next to Heinrich Balthazar Becker and Jacob Eccarin's, A standing residential building together with "scheuer" stalls and other belongings.

2. 37 acres 65 hundredth acres farmland in 6 parcels

3. 6 acres of meadows in one piece. 

B. Real estate, which the departed Michael Helfer personally brought into the marriage and which belonged to him, namely 67 acres 65 centiacres Farmland in 9 parcels and 6 acres of meadowland.

Of the requirements of the auction the undersigned notary public will take daily notice in the office room.
