Hannah Howse was baptized 5 May 1594 in Egerton, Kent, England.  Her father was listed as John Howse. (1) She married John Lothrop on 16 Oct 1610 (2) and they had 8 children.  Her husband was arrested for religious reasons in 1632 and at the same time she became terminally ill.  Her husband, John Lothrop, was able to get the liberty of seeing her before she died, but then he had to go back to prison. (3)  She died 16 Feb 1644/5 in London. (4)   At that time she had at least 7 young children.  Her youngest, Benjamin, was only 6 years old.  Her husband was released and took off for the colonies,  and remarrying shortly thereafter.

Marriage: (1) Eastwell, Kent, 16 Oct 1610 Hannah House (TAG 70:25), daughter of Rev. John House (TAG 70:250-51; NEHGR 66:356-58, 67:260-61). She died in London about 1633, while her husband was in prison (Burrage 2:298).

(3) "In New England's Memorials" by Nathaniel Morton, published in 1669, he says -:
"His wife fell sick, of which sickness she died. He procured liberty of the bishop to visit his wife before her death, and commended her to God by prayer, who soon gave up the ghost. At his return to prison, his poor children, being many, repaired to the bishop at Lambeth and made known unto him their miserable condition by reason of their good father's being continued in close durance, who commiserated their condition so far as to grant him liberty, who soon after came over unto New England".

(4) "In New England's Memorials" by Nathaniel Morton, published in 1669, he says -:  Hannah Howse Lothrop "died in London, 16 Feb 1633/4, while her husband was imprisoned for religious reasons."

 

 


.Died while her husband was in prison.  Her sister was Peninah Howse who traveled to Barnstable and married Robert Linnel.

The Brooke and White families both descend from Joseph Lothrop.  The White family also descends from Thomas Lothrop.
