Isaac Powers Sr. was born in Pennsylvania between 1771-1780. (1) Since his son, Isaac F. Powers, was probably born about 1792-5 in New Jersey, we can assume he was living in New Jersey about that time.  (2)  The only  person found with a name even closely resembling Isaac Powers, is an Isaac Perres on the tax records of Somerset County, NJ in 1793. An Isaac Huff was on the same tax records.  (3) However there is absolutely no proof that these men are connected to Isaac Powers.
Isaac Powers' son Isaac F Powers, may have fought in the War of 1812 from someplace near Clermont, OH.  However, there is no record for his father, Isaac Powers, Sr.  He is not found in the 1819 Cincinnati City Directory.  The first time he showed up in Cincinnati was in the 1825 Cincinnati City Directory where he was a drayman.  (4) His grandson, Andrew Jackson Powers was born in Cincinnati to Isaac F Powers in 1824, so it seems likely that all three generations were living together in 1825. In 1829, the family was living together at Vine above Canal.
The 1830 census shows the three generations living together.  Isaac Powers Sr. was between 50 and 60 and his son, Isaac F. Powers, was between 30 and 40.  The children listed fix exactly with the known children of Isaac F. Powers.  In the 1831 Cincinnati DirectoryIsaac Powers is listed as "laborers," indicating there are still two adult males in the family.
By 1834, Isaac F. Powers and his wife Nancy and 7 children had moved across the Ohio River to Covington, KY. Isaac Powers, Sr., however, was still living in Cincinnati. (5) In the Cincinnati tax records for 1835-1836 Isaac Powers was living on Burnet in a residence that has 20 feet.  His total worth was $150 and he owed $3.34 in taxes. (6)
Both Isaac Powers, Sr. and his son Isaac F. Powers disappeared from the records around 1836.  The last record found is for an Isaac Powers in Cincinnati City Directory for 1836-37 where he was living on 7th north of Broadway.

(2) The 1830 census has his son, Isaac F Powers, born between 1790-1800.  However, Nancy, his wife, was born in 1796, so Isaac F Powers was probably born a couple of years before that.
