Thomas Safford was born in Ipswich, Essex, MA on 16 Oct 1672. (1) He married Eleanor Cheney in Essex on 7 Oct 1698. (2)   She was a young widow just 19 years old, with an 8 month old son.  She had married at the age of 17 and her husband had died three months after the birth of her son.  Thomas Safford had at least 9 children with Eleanor Cheney and then she died on 22 Dec 1724. The youngest of their children was only 10 months old.  The next year Thomas Safford married Sarah Scott of Rowley on 29 Jun 1725. (3)
Thomas Safford wrote a will on 11 Aug 1753 turning over the management of his estate to his son Daniel. (4)  He left his wife the income from his estate, the household goods and what property she had brought with her. Other sons mentioned were: Thomas, James, Joseph, John, Stephen and his deceased son, Nathan.  Thomas Safford died 30 Apr 1754 in Ipswich at the age of 81. (5) The estate was proved on 27 May 1754.  His widow died in 1762.
