Franz Zimmerle was born on 09 Nov 1768 and christened in Vorderweidenthal. (1) On 21 Oct 1799, when he was 21,  he married his second cousin, Catharina Elisabetha Zimmerle, in Wilgartswiesen. (2) They had seven children. Franz Zimmerle was listed as a god parent at the baptism of Georg Adam Zimmerle on May 11, 1808. Georg Adam Zimmerle, his brother, was listed as godparent to Franz's daughter, Elisabetha Catharina, in 1802.
The wife of Franz Zimmerle died in 1822 when their youngest child was only five years old.  In 1832 two of their children, John Philipp and Margaretha with her husband Jacob Hauck, emigrated to the United States. In 1836 Georg Philipp emigrated to the United States.  George was 18 and according to oral history, did not want to be conscripted into the German army.  In 1840 another son, Philipp Jacob, left for the United States. Two of their daughters, Elisabetha Catharina and Catherina, remained.   Philipp Jacob, who had emigrated,  never married and when he died in 1854 he left his estate to his five siblings. 
Franz Zimmerle died 29 Jun 1847 and was buried in Wilgartswiesen on 1 Jul 1847. (3)
