A Chancery suit calls Roger Ludlowe of Dublin, Esquire, "the natural and legal father of Jonathan, Joseph, Roger, Anne, Marie and Sarah Ludlowe and administer in the right of his said children of the personal estate of George Ludlowe of Yorke River in Virginia, Esquire, deceased...that whereas about the year 1629 your orator with many hundreds more did transplant themselves and families into America to a certain tract of land there, called New England."2
