[S141] Frank Syvester Parks, Parks Records, Vol. 3; A Collection of Miscellaneous Information About Some of the Old Park and Parks Families of America (Washington D.C.: Frank Sylvester Parks, 1925), pp.17-19 "A descendant writes, "Cyrenius Parks came from near Albany, NY; was a British officer in the Revolution, and had to leave New York State and go to Canada." There is no record in any of the published lists of loyalists of a Cyrenius Parks. In the "list of men whose estates had been confiscated between March 3, 1780 and July 1781, " appear the names of "Ryner" Park and James Parks. "Ryner" Park was without a doubt Cyrenius Parks, and it is possible that James was his brother. Cyrenius Parks joined the company known as the King's Rangers in 1780, and having served three years was given an honorable discharge when the regiment was disbanded by King George, Dec 24, 1783. He emigrated with the United Empire Loyalists to Upper Canada in 1784, and settled on North Shore of Hay Bay, county of Lennox. He was appointed Liuet. of the First regiment of Militia in the county of Lennox, Midland Division, by Sir Francis Gore, Lt. Gov. of Upper Canada, Jan 2, 1809. Feb 21, 1812, he was appointed Captain of the regiment by Gen. Isaac Brock, President and Acting Administrator of the Province, stationed at York, (now Toronto). Was actively engaged in the War of 1812, his regiment being stationed at the Old Stone Windmill, on the St.Lawrence river, a short distance below Kingston. As a United Empire Loyalist, he was granted a Compensation Claim of 84 pounds sterling. Was granted 290 acres of land in Township of Richmond, Lennox Co., Dec 24, 1792, 600 acres of Hay Bay, Lennox Co., May 17, 1802, and 200 acres Township of Sapiasburg, county of Prince Edward, Aug 10, 1801.".
