He is one of the family groups listed on the "last of Aprill 1634," Thomas age 48, with wife Alice (47), and children Anna (14), Rose (11), Thomas (10), and Rebecca (9). He may have been related to Thomas Morehouse, whose holdings adjoined his in Wethersfield, and who accompanied him in his subsequent migrations. If the age of the son Thomas was misstated in the ship's list, he could have been the Thomas son of Thomas and Alice baptized at St. Michael's, London, England, 23 Jan 1630. Will dated 21 Jul 1655, proved 25 Oct 1655. Fairfield Deeds mention 18 Jan 1658/59 that "John Banks hath married Mary Sherwood the relict."1

Thomas Sherwood bequeathed to “children by former wife, Thomas, Jane, Tamsen, Margaret [sic], Sarah, Hannah, Rose, Rebecca; wife Mary, and children by her, Stephen, Matthew, Mary, Ruth, Abigail, Isaac” [FOOF 1:548].
The recorded will of Thomas Sherwood is in the first volume of Fairfield probate records, which has been seriously damaged by fire. In the case of this will, large sections containing the beginning and end of the document are now totally missing or illegible [Fairfield PR 1:9-10]. Jacobus and Prindle worked from the original and from older tran-scriptions which included information which can no longer be read [FOOF 1:2, 548; Gillespie Anc 445; TAG 80:279-80]. This circumstance explains in part our inability to determine the marital status of the daughters of Thomas Sherwood with his first wife.
