  • Samuel Cogswell died on 2 March 1779 at Mount Washington, Massachusetts.
  • Samuel moved to Preston, Connecticut as a young man. His children were born in that town. On 9 Jun 1746, he purchased from Caleb Mallory, two lots of "wild land" in the part of New Milford called the North Purchase. He paid L300 old tenor. Along wth his father and uncle he was among the first settlers of New Milford, Connecticut. After about ten years he moved again, and the subsequent history of his life is not certain. It is said that he was married three times and had a total of nineteen children. It is believed that he is the Samuel Cogswell who died on 2 Mar 1779 in Mount Washington, Massachusetts.

  • Isaac Coit died on 23 April 1776 at Plainfield, Windham Co., Connecticut.4

Isaac represented Plainfield in the General Assembly in 1772, 1773, and 1774, and was moderator in 1774 of the twon meeting about the Boston Port Bill. In his will he left L250 to the selectman of the town for the maintenance of a Latin or Grammer School, a bequest that is believed to have helped establish the Plainfield Academy in 1784. He died without children.4
