The marriage designation on the Wauchula, FL census DOES look like W for "widow" - however, she is shown with her husband in Palm Beach. Yes, it's the same person.
Sloppy handwriting on the part of the census taker, I assume. Interesting that the 1910 census in Wauchula indicates that Florida and John B. had been married for 26 years (and our belief, as well) - however, on the Palm Beach 1910 census -

1880 census for Ness Co KS shows William as age 5 when enumerated 8 June 1880. That would mean he was born in 1875. This agrees with the Broward Co FL 1917 draft registration date. We had 29 Jul 1869 - the same date listed as the birthdate of Myrtle Mae Schneider Brown. I believe the dates were confused. We are accepting the documented dates - as shown in the 1917 regs and Mrytle's death cert. for the time being. - rhg

I'm not suggesting that this John is her father (too young) but could be a brother - except she claims on later census that she was born in IL. Included this - just in case. - rhg

Janice's mother, Bertha, was the family "collector" of memorabilia and some new data shows: Myrtle was about 8 years older than Wm. Brown. Date of Birth is shown as 29 Jul 1869 (we had 24 May 1861); birthplace Joliet, Ill. (confirms). The signing physician, A.
