Thomas & Elizabeth married on 31 May 1838, Elizabeth still a minor, and their son Edwin was born on 30 November the same year.    Elizabeth was born in Blackburn, the daughter of Roger Wensley, a brushmaker.  Thomas is noted as a tailor on Edwin's Birth Certificate and their address Enville Street, Ashton-under-Lyne..     The 1851 census lists their address as 136 Stamford Street, Ashton-under-Lyne with children, Edwin, George, Ellen, Mary and brother-in-law Roger Wensley.  Eventually they lived in 168 Ambermarle Street, Ashton by which time Thomas's business was thriving employing 24 men, 2 boys, 21 women and 1 girl.  They also had a domestic servant so had become a very prosperous family with eleven children.

Thomas died suddenly in 1877 at the age of 60
and Elizabeth is noted on the 1881 census as a widow at their home in Ambermarle Street.
 She died the same year.

Sarah Ann Brownson - born 1858- married Herbert Greaves

James Hague Brownson - born 1860 - married Alice Lily Osborn

Thomas Brownson - born 1862 - unmarried

 Ruth Brownson born 1867 - married Alfred Wood, a Boer War veteran & had one daughter -  - the photographs from India are from an album which                  belonged to Ruth Brownson dated 1895
