As this is a work in progress, any additions, corrections or comments are very welcome.
When this project was started, it was with prompting from my mother, Edith Margaret (Fields) Longanecker who was researching the Loudin family to establish membership in the DAR. Our project has expanded since then considerably. We have contacted many family members to obtain information from them and have been rewarded with extensive family particulars and pictures. My thanks to all of them who took the time to lend a helping hand. In our search for additions to the LOUDIN line, we have been in touch with Erik P. Conard who had completed early research on the BURR, BEAN, CUDWORTH, COPELAND, PHILLIPS and GOODWIN family to name a few, and has shared all the information on those families taking us back to four more Revolutionary Ancestors. We want to give special credit to Erik for without him, we would still be searching. We also received GEDCOM's on these very families from John Langner which started us on the trail to trace the BURR FAMILY back to JOHN ALDEN. coming to America. Was a participant in the Revolutionary War.
In 1782 he served in the Sixth Company of the Sixth Battalion of the Chester
County Militia. In Volume 5, Page 781 of the Pennsylvania Archives of History
, he was serving in the Seventh Battalion and the Eighth Company of the
Chester County Militia. In Volume 5, Page 670, 5th Series of the
Archives, he was serving on May 8, 1785, in the Fourth Company of the Fourth
Battalion of the Chester County Militia.
