~ CHERYL COLLETTI'S LIST ~

I wish that I could resolve the following:  This is my difficulty with my research of Ella Phillips.  Ella left first husband for George Breed.  She and George had two daughters in 1881 and 1883.  The Packard diaries indicate that she left George for a man named Williams.  In the 1892 publication of the Breed lineage, the marriage date of George and Ella is listed along with the names and birthdates of daughters.  Ella's name appears to be deliberately omitted.

A Breed relative just noted that the 1905 census shows that George was a widower.  She (and I) are unable to locate George in the 1900 census.  The 1920 census indicates also that George was a widower.

George was involved in two court cases - one of them Breed vs. Williams (!)  and one of them Breed vs. Devereaux.  I do not yet have copies of the documents.  One of the Devereaux families in the area was missing at the time of the census and the enumerator made the notation "unable to find." The other Devereaux family seems to be connected to a Williams family.

So we have to make new assumptions:  Either George had a second wife who died or - Ella never married Williams and she died.

So the search is now a little more complicated than it already was.
