Bennett was a witness along with J.T. Hutchinson and J.W. Cook for Richard Collins will. 
The will was written April 4, 1855 with Elizabeth R. Collins as his wife. The executor was 
Richards brother-in-law Thomas N. Swanzy. The will was recorded on Oct. 18, 1855.

Bethel Ellege bond to Bennett Bunn (SW1/4 NE1/4 S23 T15 R18)
Know all men by these  presents that I Bethel Ellege of the county of Monroe and the state 
of Mississippi am held and firmly bound unto Bennett Bunn in the sum of four hundred and 
fifty dollars to be paid to the said Bunn heirs executorsadministrators or assigns to which 
payment will and truly to be made I bind myself my heirs executors and admisistrators firmly 
by these presents. In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my hand and seal this the 24th day 
of September in the year 1849. One thousand eight hundred and forty nine.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound Bethel Ellege his 
heirs executors or administrators shall convey or cause to be conveyed a good and sufficient 
title unto the said B. Bunn his heirs executors administrators or assigns to a certain tract 
or parcel of land lying and situated in the county and state mentioned in the above mentioned 
obligation and known and designated as the South West quarter of the North East  quarter of 
section no twenty three in township  fifteen South of range no eighteen West as soon as the 
said Bunn his heirs executors administrators or assigns shall pay or cause to be paid unto 
the said Ellege his heirs executors administrators or assigns certain notes to wit one note 
for ine hundred dollars payable on or before the first day of January 1851 to said Ellege and 
dated September 24th 1849 and note for one hundred and twenty five dollars payable on or 
before the fisrt day of January 1852 and dated september 24 1849 then the above obligation 
to be void otherwise to be and remain in full force and effect.

Before me T.M. Williams clerk of the probate court of said county personally appeared 
George R. Ross the subscribing witness to the foregoing bond who after being duly sworn 
deposed and says that he saw the above names Bethel Ellege whose name is signed thereto 
signed sealed and deliver said bond to Bennett Bunn that this ? signed  his name as witness 
thereto in the presence of said Bethel Ellege on the day and year therein mentioned.
Given under my hand and official seal of office the 1st day of October 1849. T.W. Williams 
clerk.
The foregoing is a true record of the original bond and the certificate thereon, filed in my 
office the 1st instant and recorded the 5th day of October 1849.

Deed of Trust:
This indenture made this 11th day of January 1876 between Bennett Bunn and M.H. Bunn of the 
county of Monroe and the state of Mississippi of the first part and W.W. Cunningham of the 
county of Monroe and the state of Mississippi party of the second part and G.T. and 
S.J. Williamson of the county of Monroe and the state of Mississippi parties of the third 
part witnesseth:
That whereas sad parties of the first part are indebted to said parties of the third part in 
the sum of $200.00 two hundred dollars evidenced by their promissory note of even date. And 
he said parties of the first part being desirous to secure the prompt payment of said 
indebetedness at its maturity.
Now this indenture witnesseth: That said parties of the first part for and in consideration 
of the sum of ten dollars to them in hand paid by said party of the second part the receipt 
of which is hereby acknowledged have granted, bargained, sold, released, conveyed and confirmed 
and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, release, convey and confirm unto said party of 
the second part his heirs and assigns forever all the following described property situate 
in the county of Monroe and the state of Mississippi and more particularly designated and 
described as follows to wit:
All of their crop of cotton, corn, fodder, potatoes, sorghum raised this year 1876 also one 
horse named Charley, three cows named Hueda, Fiada, Lawley, ? 2 yearlings.

Eli was slightly wounded in the forearm on December 31, 1862 near Murfreesboro, TN.

3.  MATTHEW H.2 BUNN (BENNETT1) was born February 19, 1845 in Mississippi, and died 
May 19, 1908 in Monroe County.  He married RUTHA S. EDWARDS January 25, 1877 in Monroe County, 
daughter of GEORGE EDWARDS and CHARLOTTE BOBO.  She was born December 1845 in Alabama, and 
died October 1928.

Notes for MATTHEW H. BUNN:
MS 41st Inf. Co. G nicknamed "Men From Monroe"
Matthew applied for Mississippi Confederate Pension in 1900 41st MS Monroe (Betty Wiltshire).
Matthew's commanding officers in Co. G were Col. W.F. Tucker and Capt. Austin Pollard/ M. Nolen. 
He received a $23.36  pension on July 25, 1890, warrant #116. This money was mailed to 
Amory, MS. Matthew was able to write as evidence by his signature on the pension. Matthew 
was wounded on Aug. 26, 1864 in Atlanta, GA. As a result of this injury, he lost his left 
arm at the shoulder. Matthew's command surrendered in North Carolina but he was absent, 
being confined to a bed. As of July 30, 1900 Matthew was considered indigent and unable to 
earn a support by his own labor. He owned no property or home. (Pension Application).

Ruthie applied for Mississippi Confederate Pension in 1924 41st MS Monroe (Betty Wiltshire).
Ruthie came to Mississippi in 1860 (Pension Application). 
In 1910 she was considered indigent and unable to earn a livilhood. She owned no land or home. 
She was living with her daughter Virgie Parish and her husband Arba. She was unable to sign 
her name to the pension as shown by her mark. (Pension Application).
Ruthie lived as a boarder with Claude and Eva Gideon in 1920. She lived next door to her 
daughter and son-in-law Virgie and Arba Parish. (Source: 1920 census)
