Preface


The names of the Servants and Employees of the Dutch East India Company [Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie– the VOC] during the Dutch Administration in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) between 1640 and 1746 and the names of the Founder Burgher families have been taken from Volume 1 Parts 1, 2 & 3 (1908) of the Journal of the Dutch Burgher Union of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), while the family names of Sri Lankans (Ceylonese) of European descent [mainly Belgian, British, Dutch, Flemish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swiss etc.] presently resident in Sri Lanka have been extracted from current directories of Sri Lanka Telecom. The compiler of this Presentation has taken every reasonable step and care to ensure accuracy and cannot accept responsibility or liability in any way for any errors, inaccuracies, omissions, spelling mistakes or typos.

This Presentation has no genealogical significance and carries no copyright.
It is merely a listing of names and nothing more.
