June 28,1837, Elizabeth Burnham, of Goffstown,
Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, aged 84 years, deposed :
that she is the widow of Asa Burnham, who enlisted
June 1, 1776 from Dunbarton, N.H., with John Mills, John Jameson, Thomas
Huse and others : marched to Mount Independence, was in an engagement with
the British when Arnold was defeated, served out his term - six months
- and returned to Dunbarton:
that she was married to Asa Burnham, Jan. 18,1774
and that her husband died Jan. 27,1831, and she has ever since remained
a widow.

Jesse Carr, Justice of Court of Commons Pleas, certified that Elizabeth Burnham was blind and unable to attend open court.
July 3, 1837, Abner Hogg, of New Boston, Hillsborough
County, Revolutionary pensioner, testified to service with Burnham at Mt.
Independence, in 1776, under Capt. William Barrows, of Lyndeborough,
N.H., Col. Wingate ; that during his term of service Asa Burnham volunteered
to go aboard the flotilla under Benedict Arnold and before the expiration
of his term he joined the company again ; understood that he was a married
man when he was in service, & c.

June 28, 1837, Silas Burnham testified that he
is 54 years old and was the fifth child of Asa and Elizabeth Burnham :
testified also to death of his father and continued widowhood of his mother.

In letter of Transmittal July 20,1837, Franklin Pierce, agent for Mrs. Elizabeth Burnham, also forwarded a copy of the will of Asa Burnham with letter of administration annexed ( which was returned to him at his request ) and stated that "all persons present at the marriage are now dead and the Rev. Mr, Currier, of Goffstown, before whom the marriage was solemnized did not cause any record to be made of marriages where he officiated while he remained in that town.
