         April 15, 1818,  James Burnham, of Somersworth, New Hampshire, aged 64 years, deposed ;
that he enlisted in June, 1775, under Capt. Benjamin Titcomb, Col. Enoch Poor, for 8 months, and that in
December, 1775, he re-enlisted in the same company to serve until February, 1777, when he was discharged
at Morristown, New Jersey;
was in the battles of Trenton and Princeton.
      William Twombly, of Dover, N.H., Jonathan Downing, of Durham, N. H. a non commissioned officer in the
2nd N. H. line, and Samuel Nute, of Dover, a non Commissioned officer under Capt. Jonathan Wentworth, testified
to service in same regiment ( Twombly in same company ) with Burnham.

                Claim allowed May 1, 1819.
July 4, 1820 James Burnham testified that he was a carpenter by occupation and that his family, residing with him,
is his wife, aged 61 years, and that his property amounted to $185.00.
Dropped from the rolls on account of property but restored March 18, 1829 on application made Feb. 9, 1829.
       March 28, 1834, James Burnham, of Somersworth, N.H., aged 80 years, applied for increase of  pension under
Act of June 7, 1832, and deposed ;
that he was promoted to be sergeant just before he re-enlisted and served as such until February, 1777;
that at the expiration of his year, he enlisted again for 6 weeks and "was in action and assisted in taking the Hessians
near the Delaware;"
that he served again for three months in the summer of 1780, as ensign, under Capt. Timothy Emerson , Col. Thomas
Bartlett and filed his commossion in proof of statement.

        ( The commission of James Burnham as ensign, Col. Thomas Bartlett's regiment of Foot, N.H. signed M. Weare, President of Council of Exeter, dated Exeter, July 15, 1780, is on file in the Department. )
Claim allowed and certificate issued April 9, 1834, for service as private, 6 months, 17 days; sergeant, 13 months, 15 days; ensign, 3 months and 28 days.
Aug. 11, 1845, Abigail Burnham, of Somersworth, N.H., aged 85 years, deposed;
that she is the widow of James Burnham, Revolutionary pensioner, who died at Somersworth, N.H., June 17, 1845;
and that she was married to him April 25, 1783, and still remains his widow.

Rev. Jonathan French, Pastor of Congregational church in North Hampton, testified that in the list of marriages
performed by Rev, David Macclure , and recorded by him, is the marriage of James Burnham, of Rochester, and
Abigail Pickering, of Newington, April 25, 1783.
     Claim allowed under Act of June 17, 1844.
Oct. 5, 1848, Abigail Burnham, aged 89 years, applied under later Act.
Claim allowed and certificate 4233, Portsmouth, N.H. Agency, was issued March 12, 1849, Act of Feb. 2, 1848.
