"How to Hook 'Em in the Rear"

1st. Lt. Charles Ryan, C.O. of "Charlie" Co., playing a game of "ring-around-the-rosie" with three German soldiers in the village of Hochstedt, near Dessau, succeeded in killing all three of them.

Coming out of his CP he spotted three Krauts ducking into the drive-way of a large estate. There were no GIs nearby, so-with his trusty carbine Lt. Ryan gave chase. He was about 15 yards behind them when they made a turn around a large building beyond the driveway. From then on it was just a matter of going "round and round" until the 'C' Company cornmander played an old and simple trick on the fleeing Jerries.

Passing by the front door, he ducked inside and stood by a front room window, whaiting for the trio to come by. Sure enough, the three Germans puffed by and Lt. Ryan caught all three of them from the rear with well aimed shots from his carbine.
