RECIPE, GI.

Take one raw recruit, very green. Stir from bed at an early hour. Soak in tub or shower daily. Dress in olive drab. Mix with others of his kind. Toughen with maneuvers, grate occasionally with sergeant's nerves. Add heaping portions of baked beans and spam. Season with wind, rain, sun, and snow. Sweeten at times with chocolate bars. Let smoke often. Bake in 110-degree summer and let cool in below-zero weather. Serves 140,000,000 people.
