From Decoy White 6

To the Officers and Enlisted Men of the Second Battalion, 18th Inf.

We have been away from our homeland over two years and ten months. 444 days of that time has been spent in combat against the enemy. Many of these days comprised long periods; rests were in forward assembly areas, and were often used to prepare for the next engagement. Throughout each engagement we carried the fight to the enemy; we allowed him no respite. Our record has been the envy of all outside of the division and we are justifiably proud.

While we rejoice, let us not forget our fellow comrades who are left behind. May the memory of their deeds lie deep within our hearts. Their sacrifice for their country was, in truth, the foundation of Our pride.

The organization continues; each day brings us new duties. True at the moment hostilities have become a part of history but our devotion to duty and to our country never ceases. In addition to becoming the finest ghting machine the world has ever known, we shall ever be prepared to accomplish with complete efficiency any mission which may be assigned to us; in keeping with the 18th Infantry Regiment motto, "In Omnia Paratus" - "In All Things Prepared."

H. V. Middleworth

Lt. Col., 18th Inf.,

Commanding.
