Obit - Bettie Nichols

      Nichols:  Mrs. Bettie Nichols 86 a citizen
of Brown County for almost 80 years died Monday
at the Brownwood hospital.
     Funeral services were conducted, Tuesday from
the London and Burton Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Kenneth Cooper officiating assisted by Mark
McGee, a life long friend of the family. Interment at
the Bangs Cemetery.
     Mrs. Nichols was born March 18, 1860, in Stone
County, Mo. Orphaned at the age of three, she was reared
by her aunt and uncle the late Mr. and Mrs. John L. McPeters.
She came to Texas around 80 years ago and had lived all
that time in Brown County, with the exception of a brief
period spent in Collin County.
     She was married to Henry A. Nichols on October
 7, 1875. Mrs. Nichols had been a member of Methodist
Church for 60 years.
     Survivors include the following children: Mrs. Fannie
Harwood, Bangs, Mrs. Top Windham, Byrds, Mrs. Ella
Robertson, Mrs. Walter Johle, Mrs. Earnest Weedon, and
Mrs. Charles J. Nichols, all of Brownwood: the Rev. H.
Arthur Nichols, Tahoka: Dr. John M. Nichols, Coleman:
and Mrs. Bethel Harbison, Fort Worth.
     Pallbears were Truman Harlow, Dewey Weedon,
Dr. Ben Shelton, Loren Williams, and Millard
Romines, Brownwood, and Karl Wallace of Fort Worth.
