Colden is a district of Calderdale west of Heptonstall.

The name is recorded as Coldenynge [1439], Coldenstokkbridge [1514], Colden [1541], and Colden Banck [1575].

The name may mean coal valley, cold valley, place where charcoal was burnt, charcoal valley, or valley with a bridge – see Hebble, Valley.

The Great House at Colden is mentioned in 1439.

The stone slab bridge is dated to 1???, and lies along the Calderdale Way and the Pennine Way.
