Saint Luke's, Norland

The grave of Leah & Samuel Hoyle at Saint Luke's, Norland.

The last four lines are from a Hymn called Admiration & Confidence by Joseph Swain [1761-1796]

Epitaph

In Affectionate
Remembrance of
SAMUEL HOYLE,
OF NORLAND,
who departed this life,
May 18th 1873;
In the 73: Year of his Age

ALSO OF
LEAH HIS WIFE,
who departed this Life
April 5th 1873;
In the 80th Year of her Age

He was a Preacher of the Gospel
more than 50 Years.

He was mighty in the scriptures
and fearless in the Pulpit. And as
they were never separated a single
night during their married Life of
45 Years so now they rest together
in their bed. "Where the wicked
cease from troubling and where
the weary be at rest".

I shall be with him when he comes,
Triumphant down the parting sky,
And, when his voice breaks up the tomb
Among his children I shall rise.
