Birchcliffe Baptist Church, Hebden Bridge : Graveyard

The graveyard of Birchcliffe Baptist Church, Hebden Bridge was opened in or before 1816, and is alongside Sandy Gate road.

It is split into three sections:

• The first, on the site of the second chapel and furthest to the north, is completely overgrown/buried/broken, and not a single grave can be read
• The second is a mixture of graves laid between the 1860s-1930s, many of which are still legible, though somewhat difficult to access due to plant growth
• The third section of graves were laid between the 1930s-1990s

Some graves were transcribed in 1980 – a copy can be obtained at the Yorkshire Archæological Society – alas only four graves in the first section had survived to be transcribed.

The land is now privately owned.
