CLATTERBUCK family of Virginia and beyond

      Clatterbucks of Virginia
      and Beyond

Welcome to my Clatterbuck website. This site is devoted to the genealogy and family history of the Clatterbuck Family of the United States. I began researching my Clatterbuck roots some seven years ago, and with the help of many relatives, both close and distant, and the many new friends I have met along the way, my family tree has grown. A debt of gratitude to those of you who have been kind enough to share your information, your photographs, your clippings and your family stories that make history come alive.

My branch of the Clatterbuck family descend from Reuben Clatterbuck who removed to Callaway County, Missouri about 1826. The majority of Clatterbuck's in the United States descend from his cousin, William P. Clatterbuck who stayed and populated Virginia. When you have the name Clatterbuck, there is a certain curiosity about "where did I come from". I did not meet another Clatterbuck outside of my immediate family until I was in college. Imagine my surprise in finding that there are Clatterbucks throughout the United States. Presently there are some 300 listings in the phone book. Needless to say it is not a common name. I figured we all must be related some way or another! Just to keep things interesting, there are also several spelling variations in different branches: Clatterbaugh, Claterbaugh, and Clutterbuck. Once I had researched my Callaway Cousins, it seemed natural to wander off into the Virginia branches. There are plenty of other Clatterbuck researchers who have explored those branches of the family, and I am sure because of their closer connections, have better information than I. I enjoy the puzzle of putting all the branches together and hope you will too.

This site is dedicated to my Grandpa Clatterbuck, who taught me about the importance of family and the joy of family history and the pride in being a "Callaway Clatterbuck."

I have attempted to keep information about living persons private. If you find that there is something here that interferes with your privacy, please let me know and I will remove it. If you have further information you would like to share, or have corrections, please drop me a note.

          Thank you,
