Clatterbuck Leroy
Leroy Clatterbuck was born in 1805, in Caroline County, Virginia, the son of Reuben Clatterbuck and
Martha "Patsy" Griffin. He was probably named after his Grandfather, Leroy Griffin. He removed to Shelby County Kentucky in 1810 and then to
Callaway County Missouri in about 1827. He married Mary Polly Gray, the daughter of George W. Gray and Francis Brooks on April 22, 1831. In November 1841, Leroy received several land grants.
In July 1854 , Mary Polly Gray died of Cholera. It is believed they had no children. The 1840 Census show no children, and the 1850 census shows Mary Elizabeth Clatterbuck age 11 living with them. I believe this
is not their daughter, but rather the daughter of Cageby Clatterbuck, who was widowed before 1850 and left with several young daughters. Mary
Elizabeth is not listed with Cageby in the 1850 census. Leroy then married Martha Ann Chapman in October 4, 1855 in Cole County, Missouri.
She was born in 1824 in Kentucky. Leroy was a blacksmith. He died on October 24, 1864 in Moniteau County, Missouri.
