Clatterbuck Standley Mary Elizabeth
      Mary Elizabeth Clatterbuck

Mary Elizabeth Clatterbuck was born about 1785 in Caroline County, Virginia, the daughter of Reuben Clatterbuck and Martha "Patsy" Griffin. She married John Allen Standley on August 1, 1805 in Caroline County, Virginia. He was born about 1780 in Virginia, the son of Moses Standley and Mary Mills Allen. In 1810 they moved to Shelby County, Kentucky along with her father and his family. Mary and John had at least six children: Martha, Reuben, William, Andrew Jackson, Mary Elizabeth or Ann and Moses. I was told that family legend says that Mary Elizabeth and John Standley were killed in a house fire about 1826. Two sons were declared orphans in February 1827, and were indentured to trademen. The children moved on to Callaway County and settled there among their grandparents and aunts and uncles. In later years many of them moved on to Carroll County, Missouri.
