      Richard Clatterbuck

      Richard Clatterbuck was born on February 3, 1810 in Shelby County, Kentucky, The son of Reuben Clatterbuck and Martha "Patsy" Griffin. He married Annie Reynolds, daughter of William R. Reynolds and Lucy E. Holt. She was the sister of Martha Reynolds who married Richard's brother, John. They married sometime before 1830. He moved with his family to Callaway County Missouri about 1827.

      On November 2, 1838, he enlisted with Captain William McKinney's unit to fight in the Missouri Mormon War. He probably never saw any action as Joseph Smith surrendered on November 1st and Richard was discharged on November 7th.

      Richard and Annie had 8 known children: William K. "Cage", Frances Ann, James R., Reuben W., John J.,Isabelle Jane, Lucy Chambers, and Richard Payne. Richard received a land grant in 1829 next to his father, Reuben and a second in 1848. Annie died on June 21, 1872 and Richard died on March 12, 1873. They both are buried in the Old Prospect Cemetery
